Ever receive an email from someone you don’t know and want to know more about them? Or more importantly, have you ever gotten an email from someone whom you may do business with, but you can’t find their business card to remember who they are?
Or on the flip side, do you want to control how others view your profile and want to tell people about what you do?
Well, just last week I discovered a browser addon that you can use to see people’s content profiles in your Gmail or Google Apps for Domains. It’s called Rapportive and allows you to see more about the people and companies you are interacting with.
If they have a profile picture, it displays that along with their current position(s) and city. It also lists links to their Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media profiles, and whatever else they want linked in their profile. If you link your social media accounts, it will find their accounts on those sites, and indicate if you are already connected with them or not. And it has some apps you can add, like MailChimp and CrunchBase which give you additional information.
And the best part is that you can customize your profile so that when people open your email, Rapportive shows the information you want them to see. For example, if you are a business owner or executive or if you are a sales representative, you would want to include the company your represent on your profile, as well as what social networks you want to include.
It’s a great way to connect with the people you email, and control what others see about you.
Helping people embrace life's opportunities.™
